Vehicle decals & graphics – vinyl, UV wrap & all that!

Vehicle wraps and vehicle decals are an extremely effective method of advertising for any type of business, event or product.  They are intriguing, eye catching, mobile, and different.  There are literally millions of applications for vehicle wraps and vehicle decals that everyone can benefit (and profit) from.  If you’ve never used vehicle graphics as a marketing tool before, however, you may have some questions, such as what material will be used on my vehicle, how long will it last, and is it safe for my vehicle?

There are many types of vehicle graphics, and each type has a different purpose.  At Ads On Wheels, we use high gloss over laminate for most vehicle wraps.  This laminate is of the highest possible quality and is also UV Resistant.  UV resistance is extremely important when considering materials for car wraps and vehicle decals.  Without it, the material may actually magnify the sun’s UV rays, which could damage the paint on your vehicle over an extended period of time.  More obviously, however, UV rays can severely fade and damage vehicle wraps.  If you are planning on using your vehicle wraps for a long term marketing project, you will need to ensure your vehicle graphics are UV resistant.

There are of course, applications for the use of lower quality vinyl wraps or liquid laminates as well.  Many events or promotions have a short term run time, and therefore, you may want to save money by opting for vehicle graphics of lesser quality.  Shorter term vinyl wraps and liquid laminates provide little, if no UV resistance, so they won’t stand up to harsh UV rays for long, but they can be the perfect solution for short term vehicle wraps.
